In October 2019 we designed and built our quickest project to date over a span of one month for Next50: Chefs for the Future of Disaster Relief & Climate Resiliency, an event celebrating Chef José Andrés and the amazing relief work of World Central Kitchen. World Central Kitchen was founded by Andrés in 2010 and is a not-for-profit non-governmental organization devoted to providing meals in the wake of natural disasters.
Our installation served as the backdrop of the evening as both an art piece and as a reminder of food as an agent for change. We projection mapped over black and white images that playfully revealed themselves in bright colors throughout the night. The surfaces used for projection were shipping crates that World Central Kitchen uses to deliver food to disaster-stricken areas. In the images were everyone involved in the meal delivery chain: from cooks, to relief workers, to recipients of the meals.
